Added another lump and more cavalry.
Roughly 100 painted out of 160.
So we’ll on the way now.
40 hours work.

Cripes, that’s a lot of Numidians!  Great paint job and those Victrix minis are lovely.

Cheers James.
Another elephant, 15 more cavalry, 24 imitation legionaries and some command and I’m all done! Lol.

Oh and some Numidian improvised field fortifications, whatever they look like??
I’m using WAB Hannibal book army lists, and apparently I get these prepared positions for free.
I don’t know if I should use Roman style marching fort or something more improvised similar to African thorn bush barricades??
Apparently Numidian armies liked to pick their battlefield and spring ambushes.

Thoughts…

I think I recall reading some reference to thorny barricades- must be in Caesar's Civil War.

If you could find that reference it would be very interesting.
I’ve chosen to try coconut pan scrubs to make my thorny bush!
I shall post progress.

It’s been a while.
But I have been busy, in fact only one unit of cavalry left.
I’ve started playing with the army and now got a little worried that I’ve created a monster!
Those 4 elephants are difficult to deal with!

They are brilliant.   Love the chain mailed Numidians.   I'm in the process of doing something similar.    Inspiring  work.   Are you going to finish the bases ?  That'll make them look fantastic.

Cheers,
Yes finishing the bases is definitely on the agenda.
I usually wait until I get to end of figure painting before I start basing though.
I’ve just got a few more cavalry to paint and that’s it, on with basing.
The army is 160+ figures so getting all that done first.

Actually not fully decided on what/how to base this army?

Well that’s what COVID enforced semi retirement does to you!

More time to paint, 60 hours into the project.
Between 2-3 figures an hour.

Very nearly done, just 3 more cavalry.
Just starting to experiment with basing, will post pictures up soon..
