Looking at 'O' Groups gun / armour rules
« on: June 29, 2021, 11:38:17 PM »
I have been looking at the gun / armour section in David Brown's new WWII rules- 'O' Group, setting up a little duel between a Tiger I and a couple of Sherman 76.

There is a blog post up that discusses the duel and the processes.

An interesting post. In a straight up fight the Sherman's have little chance of winning which is as it should be. But there are other rules options and other assets, such as maneuverability, that can help them. We haven't used a lot of armour in our games (about 4 T34's at most). I'm interested in doing a solo desert game with more earlier, lighter armour to see how the game plays.
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Nice post and nice looking tanks.  It would be interesting to do it the other way around with the Shermans firing first on the Tiger advancing in the open.

I have bought the O group rules but I have already decided that I don't like the idea of  1 model = 2 or 3 vehicles, I hated that rounding up in Rapid Fire. So I will be using 1 model =1 tank. In an infantry-focused  battalion level game I shouldn't need any more than 1 troop of tanks in any case, I reason.
Many thanks for the analysis, most interesting.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.
