En Garde Mythical Creatures List?
« on: July 19, 2021, 01:45:20 PM »
I’m considering picking up a copy of En Garde and using the new 1/72 RedBox Musketeers. I’ve currently got several creatures at this scale from a different project so was curious what creatures are actually listed in the Rulebook.

The 'fantastical'section contains profiles for The Witch Hunter, The Witch, The Beast, Revenant, The Barbarian and The Thief...
The Beast is undefined outside of being large, powerful and terrifying.
The revenant is effectively a zombie.

There are also a couple of specific attributes ("flying", "huge" - for something bigger than a horse and "terrifying") and a handful of spells

Thanks!

Sounds like The Beast might cover anything from a Werewolf to the Beast of Gévaudan.

Aye. Could also work for an ogre or troll...

Ah, the old loup garou is a French classic. But there's also the lesser known lou carcolh which is an unholy mix of snail, snake and giant squid and lives in caves.

You could probably adapt the mythical creatures from Ronin without too much difficulty. There's a download on the Osprey website

That's handy! Although at first glance, some of the skills in Ronin seem to be quite different to those in En Garde?

Looks like the Ronin mythical creatures lists will end up providing one with some new fantastical buntais - Oni buntai, Amanojaku buntai, tengo buntai and maybe a jorogumo buntai. I don't have En Garde, so not sure what the equivalent name for 'buntai' is, but do any of the EG mythical creatures also offer themselves up as new playable...buntais?
