Gladiator rules : munera sine missione.
« on: September 15, 2009, 09:28:53 AM »
I try some gladiator rules at the moment.

I make a review of Munera Sine Missione (in French, and a "bad" english google translation below).

There are lots of rules simulation of gladiators. Munera sine Missione translatable Battles Without neighborhoods is one of them, and free more ... Let's try this ...

Munera sine Missione created by Alan Saunders and Gary Comardo is available on this site for free:
Rules on the official site : http://www.btinternet.com/~alan.catherine/wargames/glad1-4.htm

The equipment needed to play:
     * Two 6-sided dice
     * A sheet of paper
     * A field type hexagonal
     * Two Figures
     * Bonus, some tokens (for hit points)

The principle therefore is to fight two gladiators. The armor they wear will slow them down but also protect them.
We must make a choice between protecting the gladiators and their mobility. The goal of the game is to inflict ten hit points to the opponent. Each turn, a gladiator fights.We opposes the dice rolls of the two gladiators.
If the roll of the attacker is better than the defender, it inflicts damage equal to the difference. It rolls dice to see if the armor deflects the blow, we lose life points if it fails.

The originality comes from the double. When the attacker and defender have the same number of 1D6, we obtain a special effect and it stops the ongoing attack. We may lose the battle, breaking a weapon, or be pushed to take a powerful blow without armor defense ...

It is expeditious, dynamic and above all it gives a little spice to this game

Finally, when we lose the battle, it appealed to the crowd and then your fate hangs by a thread.

Interesting things of the rules :
- the angle of attack
- the double effect on dices.
- the simplicity of the rules
- simple management of the experience.
- Construction of gladiators by visual inspection of the figure

Munera sine Missione is a little game very nice appetizer to share with friends. A test then, right game ..
