R&P closely followed by TMWWBK

The former for its breadth. I've played it from the 18th Caribbean to the 19thC Crimea, Italy, France and Denmark.

I've played more games of the latter and continue to really enjoy that too fighting, Sikh wars to Boer war.

Like most of you on here, I also have a few blue-books, however the only ones I have played really is a few goes of Black Ops and a few Solo games of Zona Alfa.

Others have been a bit of Dragon Rampant and a look at TMWWBK.

Part of the problem good thing is that they are so cheap ;)

Rebels and Patriots by far.

Interesting. Haven’t played it, but… given that most of the Dan Mersey authored titles are basically variants of the same set of rules (viz, Lion Rampant derivatives), what is it about Rebels and Patriots that makes you like it so far ahead of its siblings?

I like them all, but have played R&P most. It gives (me) an enjoyable
game. I don't spend most of the time with my head in the rulebook.
I do find myself looking at the nice figures & scenery on the table,
while actually thinking about tactics. What is my opponent thinking
of doing? What do I need to move, shoot, rally etc. in order to
frustrate him? Can I afford, for example, to leave my left wing to
get on with delaying him, or had I better rush re-enforcements over?

Subtle differences do (I feel) add a certain period flavour,
R&P = Horse & Musket,  LR = Medieval & DR = Fantasy.
Plus all of them will survive the addition of a few  house rules.

One of the differences I like of R&P and TMWWMKs is that a failed activation doesn’t end the side’s turn. I find that adds a bit too much chaos to games of LR or DR.

I have read through quite a few but the only way really played more than once or twice has been Of Gods and Mortals.
The idea of playing Fistful of Kung-Fu has really tickled me for some time, though...as has the thought of trying out Poseidon's Warriors

I have enjoyed Poseidon's Warriors.  It is very streamlined but still gives a good game.

Like several others I have quite a few of the blue book series. The first I bought was Dux Bellorum but haven't played it for years. I liked the flexible basing and Mersey's approach to the period. I liked Ronin (only played a few times long ago) for the way bows and muskets are handled as well as the defense/attack system. The one I have played the most is Lion Rampant which I enjoy but not as much as Pikeman's Lament, probably as PL covers a period I am more interested in. IHMN I bought shortly after release but have never played a game though I love the setting. It's hard to pick a favourite but possibly Pikeman's Lament currently, followed by Ronin.

Dragon Rampant gets a lot of play out our way. I can see myself buying in to the 2nd edition of Lion Rampant.

I'm also partial to the odd game of Ronin.

En Garde is very good for swashbuckling stuff or small scale Pirate games.
Honours of War is a nice SYW set
Outremer is a nice set for Crusades skirmishes
Never really enjoyed Lion Rampant and its derivatives, although I’ve bought them all. Just found something lacking about the rules.

I find that a lot of people at my club are confused about the blue books and assume that they are all variations of Dan Mersey's rules.

Fred a few posts down the page said the thing I was going to say- that a failed activation of one unit doesn't end the whole turn for that side.
I also find that the rules are mostly intuitive after a couple of games so I don't have to keep referring back to the book.
I think that the rules are like a toolkit that would be capable of a lot of stretch. For different periods and also maybe unit sizes.  I haven't explored that aspect fully yet though. ```
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Well, to be fair, a significant portion of the series are Dan Mersey's variations of his Lion Rampant.
