Caunter Camouflage on Indian Patterm Armoured Carriers
« on: 16 August 2021, 10:47:01 AM »
When open topped vehicles such as IP Carriers and Universal Carriers were camouflaged in the Caunter scheme, were the interiors painted in that same manner? Was it continued in the interior?

I'm actually checking for some IP carriers in Burma in 1942 but if I paint them in that same scheme, they can be used for the Desert of Burma.
Cheers,

Fairly sure the interiors are plain khaki

The interiors would be whatever the base camouflage colour is.  They definitely wouldn't continue any camouflage pattern across the interior.  Enclosed AFV interiors were painted silver, but anything visible from the outside (e.g. hatch interiors and the interiors of open-topped vehicles) were always painted in camouflage colours.

Off topic, I can't say I've ever seen an open topped vehicle (as to a vehicle with an entirely exposed interior like a Marder SPG) with a camouflaged interior. I doubt there's as much point, due to most enemies only viewing the vehicles from the sides, and increased amount of wear on any field applied camouflage on crew areas. :)

To be clear, when I said above that hatch interiors were painted 'in camouflage colours' I wasn't talking about disruptive patterns.  I was talking about the base camouflage colour applied the exterior, as opposed to the silver paint normally applied to the interior of British AFVs.   :D
