Pattus Magnus' WW2 Thread - Nov. 22 - New 6mm Additions
« on: 29 August 2021, 03:00:54 AM »
This thread will be the home for my various, infrequent WW2 gaming projects.

This first post was in response to Batu's pictures of his excellent WW2 Poles in 10mm (here: https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=118351.msg1688239#msg1688239 ), and a comment I made about using edge highlighting to help small scale vehicles "pop".

The pics here show some of my WW2 6mm figures. They're nothing special, but the pics were taken under normal light in my basement hobby room and I think the edge highlights help make the figures more defined. The highlight itself was the same for both, a drybrush with the buff coloured craft acrylic I use as the final drybrush on my bases (my rationale being that sunlight will reflect off the tanks and the ground in a similar way).

Thanks for the shout out Pattus. Your tanks look very cool. I have to try 6mm at some point. What rules are you using?

Batu, sorry for the delayed reply - I did not notice your post!

I originally planned to use my 6mm WW2 collection with I Ain't Been Shot Mum by Too Fat Lardies, but haven't gotten in a game yet. Then I picked up Iron Cross, by Great Escape Games, and that looks pretty good too.

Oddly, I may actually end up using the WW2 rules in the book One-Hour Wargames by Neil Thomas to play some solo games before I get a chance to try the more involved sets.

I have had these figures partly done for about 2 years, and finally got around to finishing them up over the weekend!

They are 1:300 figures from Heroics and Ros - a few Churchills and a platoon of 6-pounder AT guns with Loyd tractors to support my British infantry.

In addition to the vehicles and guns for the British Army, I also finished painting a couple of units for the German Heer.

A unit of STUG IIIs and a unit of Pak 40s with their Sd kfz 10 artillery tractors.

Oh, and a Sd.Kfz 222 scout car. Almost forgot him, which is probably exactly how he likes it...

Thanks! The H&R STUGs are good figures. The mould line runs across the side armour plates and needs careful cleaning, but the models paint up well once that is done. I’m certainly happy with how these turned out- I’m already planning on ordering a few more!
