I would also add:
Mary Poppins

not quite Victorian but Edwardian, but to me gave some inspiration about London of the time.

Hmmm. I hadn't considered that but tou have a point. You realise that real Cockneys don't sound anything like Dick van Dyke though, right?  ;)

You are right, though I do not know how real Cockneys sound exactly but  I do fancy that they do not sound like Dick van Dyke at all.
Dick van Dyke's accent is fantastic, in so far as it is 100% created entirely and utterly by Dick van Dyke and no-one else in the history of the world has ever sounded like that.
Maybe that's the reason

but those chimney cleaners (what is the correct name / term) - produced by westwind and blue moon -could be dressed/painted like Dick van Dyke et co. I think that MaryPoppins  could be serve as inspiration to paint some late Victorian/Edwardian civilians.

Also I would recommend for some inspiration the couple of versions of prisoner of Zenda films and maybe the TV series , too.

Oooh, yes, The Prisoner of Zenda with Stewart Granger, top film.

Also maybe a bit more VSF, the Flashman movie, Royal Flash http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073639/ with Malcolm MacDowell which spoofs Zenda's imposture story. Not a great film, but worth a watch.

Argsilverson, they are called Chimney Sweeps (or just Sweeps).

And some other suggestion:

Journey to the centre of earth plus most of the Jules Verne inspired films, produced by the Czechoslovakians many years ago!

I also liked the recent TV serial: The secret adventures of Jules Verne!

There are several different versions of "The Lost World" (based on the AC Doyle Professor Challenger novel about dinosaurs on a plateau in Venezuala, not the Crichton novel!)

There was also a Lost World TV series a while back, not great but might inspire some scenarios.

Pushing the VSF envelope but there's a hammer film called "The Lost Continent" based on a Dennis Wheatley novel. Giant crabs and Conquistadores!
Waiter, my soup is giggling.

Yes, the SciFi channel used to show it a lot. Lots of Pulp adventures, occult menace, and girls in leather bikinis.

Bloody awful acting though. Surprised it made it through so many seasons, and it started getting really bloody stupid towards the end. The first three seasons or so are pretty enjoyable though, and its fun spotting the Australian supporting cast from other shows (Farscape especially).

I don't know about you. But my chaps all seem to have plenty to say. All the Perry Sudan fellows seem to have it in for the Old Glory's. In fact just the other day I was putting down a nice coat of scarlet on some Cytherean Horse Guards I've been working on abd the I overheard the Sgt Major say to no one in particular: "I'll give that lot a 'Hey Steve!' right in the gob!"

Then the nurse came by with my meds and they haven't said a word since. Oh well ;)

aha

so why don't you just paint some doctors and nurses and take them to your minatures?

than you can take revenge

my miniatures don't talk
they are telepaths, and they fart

this is because I built a crate with bean cans lately

Jollybob: Thanks for the Flashman link. Last time I'd checked it was unavailable in DVD and now Netflix has it.

Flashman and The Assassination bureau double feature this weekend.
