I meant this one, based on the H Rider Haggard novel:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059710/

but there are at least 4 other versions dating as far back as 1911!

Howl's Moving Castle has lots and lots of Aeronefs and other VSF stuff, it's pretty cool.

The Ursula Andress version is my favourite, not only for the obvious reason, as it's a pretty good film, as I remember  ;)

Had quite an effect on me as a young whipper-snapper.

Does anyone mentioned Around the World in 80 Days (2004) with Jackie Chan? I know its comedy/parody but it have some steam :)

I also like North and South miniseries about American Civil War. No steam at all ,but the 19 century era..
Also Last Samurai is great (non historical but great!)

By the way, former user  have mentioned Metropolis. Tis is first and only silent mocie which I saw (2 year ago...). Great movie!

Did not see this one.  "5 weeks in a Balloon" with Red Buttons  I had loved that.
Assasination bureau, Prisoner of Zenda, Master of the World are amongst my favs
Barbarella: What's that screaming? A good many dramatic situations begin with screaming...

Also Last Samurai is great (non historical but great!)

That film was absolutely fantastic until the final charge and the last death scene. That should have been the last scene of the film. Everything after that was pure b$^£%&*s and ruined it.

Still worth watching though.
So many projects..... so little time.......
