don't think you can propel a rail tank with a handle

I think I see a crank for starting the engine, on the flat raised plating between the two little hatches. Looks like it would be easy enough to build from scratch, which is a plus. I imagine this could be a fun addition to games.

Diesel or more likely petrol engined.

just trying to imagine 2 handlers, 2 MG gunners and 1 loader/commander cramped into that box...
(or the gunners used pedals? )
since there is a crank visible  (well, I can't recognize one but trust Tacgnol)
I would go for gasoline, also beecause diesel technology wasn't that developed at that time
I remember reading that diesel locos were actually electrical ones with a diesel generator for a long time until they mastered the transmission
maybe Chris can give some details on that...
