Charlestown hits gold once again
« on: September 29, 2021, 01:55:15 PM »
Four score and many years ago i was a member on this forum and writing under the monicker "The-Wisecrack". I was obsessed with western gaming but i was also a young wee lad with a limited acces to supplies, models and printers. My limited set up was my pride and joy and when i went to uni i donated it all to cardiff wargames. I am now an older dude with acces to funds and running a wargames company (our first games are upcoming) one of which is a western game called "The West" (working title). We need buildings and i decided to dig around and find the old files i used many years ago. I'm an easily pleased person when it comes to terrain though sometimes i get carried away with details so i thought it's a good idea to go for quantity over quality with the terrain for playtesting. We can always funds from future prjects to get sarissa or 4ground buildings with interiors.
The buildings i am using are the shadow wolf old west building files, definitively compiled on this site (one monk) and i'm so glad i found them last night after a few hours of hunting. I see (from my hunting) that they periodically get requested on lead adventure, i myself posted threads with them in years ago, and snidely remarked on one (which i regret) that i'd posted them on my own site ages ago (links i seem to have lost).
The link:

They're awesome buildings, signless and just detailed enough to have a bit of a gritty feel. I'm extremely excited to get them built and i'm going to build the entire town.

Does anyone else have links to other compatible free western buildings other than the one whitewash city saloon? Maybe out buildings and stuff? I have a few wooden buildings i will be building eventually but for now this is a really quick foundational solution to my problem.

I shall call the new town charlestown as i did the last and i cna't wait to see it grow. It likely won't be quick as we are working on so many other things (see our site wickedwargames.weebly.com for info) but i enjoy it so much, the west is my favorite genre.

As per my usual productivity patterns i dived in and built a town  lol
Still work in progress, laid it out with a bunch of my dungeons and dragons terrain accesories for detailing and to get an idea of what it might look like.
More to come.

Nice looking town!

I like the multi-layered texture buildings by Dave Graffam which look the part (to me) when you use the "wooden" layer. Only some are free but theý are generally not expensive especially since they are on sale right now.
