Pony Wars Table edge markings
« on: September 30, 2021, 01:29:01 AM »
So I decided to join in with the Pony Wars crowd and I bought the newly published Baccus reprint. I have never played the rules and I am completely taken in by them. So I decided to construct the table as described on pages 39, 40, and 41. I am having some trouble figuring this out. I am not the brightest guy on the planet and that may be the problem. It appears to me that boxes 48,49,50,51 are missing on hill edge sections #1, #2, #3, #4. Also boxes 1 and 20 are missing on hill edge sections #4, #5. And finally boxes 70, 71, 72, and 73 are not present on hill edges #5, #6, #7, and #8. I have no idea what I am missing?

Two other board questions for anyone in the know. How wide should the 3 "Buttes" be that are used to form the passes? I am interested in how wide they are on the hill edge side. Finally it would appear that there is some "Dead Space" on the left and right of the Fort on the long table edges. Anyone know how many inches that is before the deployment boxes start. For those with the new rules that is the photo on page 39 the space where the "C" is marked and the number 21 box begins. I hope this makes sense to someone out there!
Thank you for any help!

Good luck with this. My (loooooong term) plan
was to do Pony wars in 6mm. To have two master
maps, 1) For players & looking like a period map.
          2) Umpires map. which would be gridded into
what would become 2' x 2' tiles on table.
There would be a stock of Buttes, cliff faces, gullies etc.
so that although the players (campaign) map would have
lots of passes, canyons etc. I would only need enough to
put on a 4' x 4' table (i.e. four of the 2' x 2' tiles).

The idea was something  like,
Players, "We'll leave the fort & head to Apache Wells meet the
wagon with the Colonel's daughter"
Umpire looks at his map which has possible Indian encounters.
As it turns out Apache Wells (square 42) is one, therefore a
game is to be played there. He also notes what terrain features
are at Apache wells, i.e. 2 x cliffs & a butte. Game on!
Well that is the dream. :D
