5 Parsecs from home (Modiphus) edition
« on: October 03, 2021, 08:32:04 AM »
Hi LAF hivemind,

I have just crumbled and in a fit of Sunday morning boredom ordered this solo game, until the physical book arrives at least I have the PDF to peruse ;)

I was just wondering, who else has it and your thoughts on it? I downloaded the second edition awhile back from wargame vault and had a couple of games which were ok, but the layout of the book was a bit  ???

Otherwise I thought it was ok, and I may change some of the weapon names as the Rattlegun is as annoying as rapid fire is in Stargrave etc lol

Thanks for any thoughts or missives in advance

Glen

I think the third edition is awesome, way better than the second.

Layout is great, loads of random tables, nice AI mechanic, to name a few things I like.

I agree with Ockman. It's nicely laid out. I have the PDF and have just ordered the Book, I want to print out the PDF and just cut a paste tables on a sheet of paper and place in a Doc. Protector as a quick reference sheet. I have bought a couple of Sic-Fi books of random tables by Matt Davids from Amazon.

They are nice to have to change things up a little.

I've played one extended campaign of 3rd edition and am starting another.

It's a lot of fun.  I think it's better than 2e, with some more interesting options in the campaign. (Disclaimer, I helped Ivan out in development and Modiphius paid me to proofread it.)

Distributors should have the game.   If you don't like the postage, check with your FLGS to see if they can order it for you.  And Modiphius participates in Bits & Mortar, so if you buy it locally you can get the pdf version for free.
