Two Gringas and a Cantina or Last Stagecoach to Mesilla.
« on: October 09, 2021, 05:27:20 AM »
The Brom sisters,  their train delayed by  mysterious explosions having destroyed multiple trestles and tracks crossing the Rio Grande west of El Paso, enjoy a few cold beers with their traveling companions in the infamous Rosa's Cantina while awaiting the stage coach for Mesilla and the next train station.

The Cisco Kid, Poncho, and Lefty, aka Los Tres Banditos, and Paddy an old, and I do mean old, San Patricio sharpshooter, were hired out of Cuidad Juarez by the Russian, Yuri "The Monocle" Patrivich, who sports, a monocle and a luxurious mustache. The Monocle arms himself with a custom side by side Berdan buffalo rifle, a flask of vodka, and quite dubious intentions. The job was supposed to be easy, delay the train from El Paso and capture the two debutantes, purported to be the Brom sisters, heading to California for a steamship to Karachi and points beyond.

Unbeknownst to the banditos and their employer, the sisters were not traveling alone. They were being escorted by Agent Mortimer Sneed of the US Treasury, Federal Marshal Ruben "El Gallo" Cockschafer, and Archibald Saint John-Smythe of the Royal Admiralty.

The banditos sat in the hills above Rosa's, ready to bushwhack the sisters seemingly unconcerned about the three unexpected and heavily armed men. The plan was for the Monocle and Paddy to set up in some saguaro and provide covering fire while the banditos closed in and captured the sisters and maybe a bottle of tequila or dos.

As the banditos work their way down the hill towards the cantina Paddy fires into the wall above El Gallo's head causing him to jump over the corral fence for cover. "My aim is steady, my eyes just ain't as keen as they used to be." He skedaddles down to the blockhouse and clambers up on the roof.

The Monocle blasts both barrels at Sneed, one round tearing the door from its hinges, the other blowing the sign from the wall. "My monocle must have been dislodged." Returning fire the marshal dumps a round into the cactus to no effect, "Turns out my eyepatch might have shifted"  Archibald fires at the lead bandito, but the round falls short at the man's feet. "Blast! Bad load."  Lori follows suit with a shot at The Monocle holed up in the saguaro, which proved to be excellent cover. "Danged cactus!"

Agent Sneed sprints across the stage trail and climbs the rickety ladder to the roof of the old adobe while Paddy tries to tap load his old but accurate muzzleloader. He pistol whips the old timer who stumbles and falls from the roof. "Dont mind the fall old timer, it's the landing that will get you."

Christy fires at the Cisco Kid, the round lodges in his pistol belt, knocking the bandito to the ground. Archibald, not trusting his ammunition, pulls his newly aquired bowie knife and runs headlong at Lefty, who obliges him by pulling his Comanchero blade and sinking it deep into the gringo's gullet. At seeing Archibald fall, Christy burns Lefty down with her Winchester.

As the Cisco Kid struggles to his feet the heretofore unseen barmaid Wicked Felina closes on him with her carving knife and gifts him a "Mexican bowtie". "This one is on the house Cisco."

Poncho has seen enough and hightails it for Chihuahua to take up agave farming. Felina and Christy pick up Archie bringing him back into the cantina. "Blighty it appears I've been stabbed."
Sneed pulls both pistols and lays down covering fire on the Monocle who is desperately trying to reload. El Gallo runs up the hill and pistol whips the Russian into submission. "We don't shine to kidnapping around here, savvy?"

With that the traveller's return to Rosa's for more beers and tacos The Monocle subdued and the banditos either dead or runt off.
But now yall know the story of how Wicked Felina helped saved the Brom sisters from certain disreputable treatment before being immortalized by Marty Robins.

Follow along with the further adventures of the Sisters Brom as they travel to the Northwest Frontier in search of their father here;

Awesome game report, Capt. Shanks!  Hmmm... I wonder: any chance barmaid Wicked Felina might choose to say adios to the environs of El Paso and join the Brom Sisters en route to The Jewel of the Empire...?

Sounds like a fun game but your guys need to learn to shoot straight. because running across open ground to pistol whip someone isn't what a pistol is for.

I'm off the the NE to see what else the Brom sisters are up to.
Cheers

Well said. Mortimer Sneed and El Gallo needed to capture The Monocle. But it does seem everyone needs some range time.

Nice set up, game and storyline. Thanks for posting the AAR.
The lack of accuracy is actually pretty historical, haha.
What rules did you use?

One Hour Skirmish Wargames by John Lambshead.  It is a card driven game with no dice. It actually played out fairly quickly, and for solo play, the randomness of two decks made for a fun game.
