This was a somewhat generic game based on actions to the east of Warsaw in August 1944 where the Soviets had sent masses of tanks through thin lines of the German defenders. The panzer units were then forced to scramble to cut those units off before they totally disrupted the front.
Russians had 2 T34 companies and a company of tank riders Germans started with 2 StuGIVs and rec’d a counter attacking force of 4 Panthers, a Stummel and 5 Pzgrd sections in Sdkfz251s.

That’s is beautiful and indeed aspirational! I like the real feeling of scale and a believable ground scale created by excellent terrain and a lack of overcrowding by miniatures (a thing all too easy to do even if just because you’re overexcited about getting them on the table - something I’ve definitely done). That is what I aim for in 15 and 6mm (I have no real 6mm terrain yet it seeing tables like this give me great inspiration).

I’m very curious about what material you used for the fields- it looks quite good with the 6mm models. Putting together good looking terrain for 6mm games is a challenge that has slowed my efforts, so any tips you are willing to share about your own methods would be very helpful!

Looks great, love the terrain! 

I purchased some Victrix 12mm Germans recently (along with 28mm Romans and Normans...), they look very good, very detailed and crisp stuff. I intend to do a couple of forces, Tommies and Germans, and then have a go with IABSM in Normandy... now I am wonder how to base the infantry, maybe 3 to 4 minis per base or somehing? Looks like you've gone this way? Separate leaders etc.

I use US pennies for most of my infantry. 3,4,5 minis per coin.

Your crop fields look very much like the old Noch/Busch or equivalent (guessing at the right name) pre-made for railway crop fields. That are perfect. I bought various teddy bear fur off cuts and ends of the roll. They were some of the most expensive types but the colour options were vast and I’ve got some 8-10mm pile alpaca that are perfect for 15mm fields and some 3-4mm pile which looks spot on for 6mm. As said not always cheap but mine was a bargain as I searched around (there are/were before this regional/local teddy bear shows and the possibilities and stock at those would be very interesting).

I started basing my 6mm in the 3,2,1 and change system but realised I was just remaking my 15mm so instead went for elements of squads/sections on a base where most squads would be two bases (eg Germans mg34 group and rifle group) from here I have dice markers or paper records for the units to mark casualties and so on as each base is ID’d individually.

I love the look of your table and the chance to live vicariously through your pictures. Thank you again for posting.
