Hochmeister of the Deutschritterorden
« on: 08 December 2021, 12:44:34 PM »
Heyhey, here's two figures by Fireforge I just painted:

Repurposed for fantasy gaming, but painted pretty much historically accurate (or so I hope). Very interesting dudes. Loads of whites to vary and balance. Figures by Fireforge. First time I worked with Fireforge resins. They show some 3d printing marks, and there are some mold lines in interesting places, but overall the figures are perfectly fine and rather pretty. The resin is interesting too. When you get it, it's very reminiscent of GW's finecast, but a bit sturdier, a bit sharper in detail. Some parts were bent (a sword, a scabbard and both shields in one corner), and it took quite a lot of quite hot water to bend them into shape. More so than on other resins, I found.

Either way, fine figures. Hope you like them!

I really like your treatment of the white. Nice and smooth. Your weathering is great also. They look like they have been campaigning, but not rolling around in the mud.

@Aaron: Thanks very much! That was the intention indeed. Gotta strike a happy medium. Of course a little dirt/dust also helps a lot with adding some more variation to the whites. :)

@has.been: Thank you! Usually I take photos against a white background, which doesn't work as well for these guys here. :D

Sie sieht sehr schon aus.  Very nice.  The Northern Crusades are such a fascinating period, and strangely not as well studied (at least in English speaking countries) as the main show given the crusaders were essentially successful.

@Maniac: Oh yes, indeed!

@OSHIROmodels: Cheers, Sir!

@bluewillow: Thanks very much. I put a lot of care into that, because ..well, that's 80% of what the figures are, and you can't really rely on black to distract the eye enough to be sloppy on the whites. :)

@MaleGriffin: Thank you!

@Atheling: Cheers!

Well, the knights are with their owner now who wrote me that he's very happy with the results. All is well. :-)

Amazingly smooth white. I think you've convinced me to pick up one of these figures, they're really nice.

@metalface13: Thank you!

@Grumpy Gnome: If you see me take a good photo you can bet on dumb luck rather than actual photography skills. :D

@Knight-Captain Tyr: Cheers; I put enough time into it. :D But yeah, I'm happy with the result. Just the right mix of smoothness and a bit of texture. The gentleman who asked me to paint them was also very happy when he got them
