Gatchaman?
« on: 27 September 2009, 05:30:12 PM »
I picked up a cheap set of Battle of the Planets DVD's at a garage sale this weekend.  I could not pass it up for $1.00--or the complete Dungeons and Dragons set for the same price, either.

I was wondering did anyone ever make any of he Gatchaman/G-Force/Battle of the Planets characters in miniature?  I did some searching about here and there to no avail...I keep thinking some one must have done these models along with the Galactor bad-guys and so forth.

Any thoughts?

There are loads of the pre-painted type in Japan of differing scales (including for some bizarre reason 7-Zark-7) and I`m sure a internet search would provide fruitful (now idea of how to start looking though)

cheers

$1 for the whole set?? bargin  :D

I've never seen any metal 28mm Gatchman figures but they would make a very cool set. One problem would be the visiors though... they'd have to be cast solid in metal therefore losing the detail of the characters faces.

There's a real paucity of licensed anime-themed miniatures in 28mm scale. The only ones around seem to be generic schoolgirls with big guns & such (unless you count Tau Crisis Suits as anime-themed, which I don't).

There's a lot of anime stuff that would be great for skirmish gaming- The aforementioned Gatchman (AKA "G-Force", etc.), Speed Racer, Giant Robo (Who wouldn't want some Experts of Justice figures?!), Tenchi Muyo, etc. etc. etc.

The Okko Game seems to have some interesting anime-inspired figures (the lot of them look like they stepped out of Ninja Scroll). I keep hoping that Reaper will bring more anime-themed material out as part of their Chronoscope range.

I did some searching and found a set of the six members of the team on evilbay which appear to be compatible with my sizeable Lego collection, but I just don't think for $40 I could swing that.

Looking for Gatchaman toys online is like looking for a specific bee in the hive, you must be very, very patient and could easily be stung...it seems.

Yes I had a look on ebay too and saw a lovely set of gashapon G-Force figures. They were expensive and I'm sure the scale would have been around 1/36 but they were great.

Nice find on the garage sale, if you are looking for more anime themed minis then you should definately check the minis from Anima Tactics out, they are one of the best sculpts out there and have many beautiful miniatures.
