28mm Sea Peoples Ox Carts
« on: December 29, 2021, 10:31:13 PM »
Are there any other options out there for these other than Newline?

QT Miniatures, back in the day..., had a nice cart I recall  but they are long, long OOP.

Jcspqr, a cart and wagon are still listed on the Wargames Design website but unfortunately no photo. If you aren't too fussy about wanting a wicker-sided cart both Warbases and Colonel Bill's sell "ancient period ox carts", but being MdF they are wooden planks. Worth checking out

Cheers

PS. I "bit the bullet" and went Newline. Not great but better than nothing!

Not entirely sure but might be worth checking Warlord Games, Wargames Foundry & CP Models.

The CP models figures are absolutely gorgeous, but they have a distinctive Sumerian look to them. Not really appropriate for Sea Peoples, imo.

Wouldn't the oxes drown in the sea?  :o

hey,

The better way is to scrathbuild yours... o_o o_o o_o
Some balsa wood, 2 solid wheels (or big round wodden shlied), one yoke (matches ?) and two oxen.
For the cart  side, i'll use a table set like for my closed garden  ;)

cheers

Out of interest, what is the issue with the Newline oxcart? Why not just go for that?

 lol lol lol

1) It is 'Oxen' not Oxes. >:D
2) They will float if they have not yet been milked,
as milk will rise to the top of the water.  ;D
3) They would be attached to a floatation device.
i.e. The Cart, as accurately described  by Nervisfr,
' Some balsa wood, 2 solid wheels (or big round wodden shlied), one
     yoke (matches ?)' ;)

The sculping of the cart is a bit flat.  The wicker sides are not very convincing.

Those are horses pulling a chariot, not oxen pulling a cart.

Otherwise, spot on. 🙄😉

Thanks Lead Asbestos
I could have added to my post I suppose to explain that I knew the difference between oxen and horses but I thought you may have given me the benefit of the doubt?
Perhaps the horses could be swapped for oxen as that’s easier than finding Sea People charioteers I reckon?
Anyway that’s as good as it gets for my searching on someone else’s behalf
Perhaps you can find something useful to add to the conversation

Didn't realize you were so sensitive. Apologies.
As for actually answering the original question, I'd say you could use the Chariots that Redoubt make in their Trojan War line. They are square and boxy and have exposed wicker on frames. Come w a set of yokes as well. Then get a couple pairs of plastic oxen that WizKids just put out, and you'd have a proper cart.
For crew, any Philistine chariot, or the gorgeous new Lucid Eye Sea People, where you can also get an excellent chariot.
So yes, I can contribute. Hope it helps.
