Two things got my paint brush out last night.
One was the new Brood Slaves from Crusader Miniatures arriving at North Star. I've always liked the look and the idea of the Broo from Runequest. As a teen my interest in Fantasy was almost 100% Tolkien-esque, which was reflected in AD&D and Warhammer. But the Broo caught my imagination and they owed nothing at all to the Prof, that gave these absolutely loathsome creatures a special place in my mind.
The other was a desire to try out these new speedpaints from The Army Painter. I hadn't indulged in Contrast at all, so it was all new to me.
I think I've got more work to master them, but they are are Speedy, these were done over a couple of short evenings.
(The shields are 3 transfers from LBM, and one freehand as a homage to me old mate Ackland)
