Returning to this hobby after almost 15-20 years. Started off as a kid playing AD&D which that led to Warhammer Fantasy Battle in the mid to late 80s. Lost interest in that by early 90s but WAB got me interested again in late 90s. Bought the Shieldwall, Fall of Rome and Age of Arthur supplements (the last probably being the best really). Modding the Total War games, mainly creating more realistic models and textures, replaced it as a hobby in the mid to late 2000s but with that game now becoming less modable and more arcade/fantasy like, I'm back playing with physical toy soldiers.
My period of interest is always the same: late Antiquity to early Medieval, so 4th to 11th century but probably more toward the earlier end of that. By the time 1066 arrives, I'm gone.
So far just bought a 120 or so metal minis and 20 plastic (just to practice on), all late Rome or Romano-British, and all armoured. I cannot see Saga really attracting me since it's too small and with WAB dead (shame), I'm looking for the replacement.
