Tips for Undercoating and Protecting Painted Bases?
« on: 28 April 2022, 03:07:14 AM »
So I've gotten into the habit of using fender washer bases (thank you helpful LAF users) where I prime the bottom of the bases black and record some info pertaining to the manufacturer, name, number, etc. of the mounted miniature (see attached photo). I would like to protect the bottom of the bases as best that I can and stop them from chipping. Can anyone recommend a clear protective coating that will dry hard and stand up to the rigors of tabletop use?

My minis are organised into units for the various Rampant rules and to keep track of them, I attach a Unit Ident to each base.

Using thin superglue, the piece of paper is fixed in place with excess glue wiped over the surface to seal it.

My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2025 = 74
(2024 = 38; 2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)
