Comic book style Mean Streets gang warfare AAR
« on: June 03, 2022, 05:23:57 PM »

Hi everyone! I have been absent from the boards for a number of months. My job as a 7th grade History teacher gives me so little free time, it seems, that LAF always gets the short end of the stick. Anyway, I was able to take a new wrinkle on my Mean Streets gang warfare rules to a local convention. The table was full for both events and the players said they had a blast. Here's the link to read my try at a comic book style report:

Click "Slideshow" to read it full screen.

I would love to hear your feedback...!

I played in the Friday game,  when the gangs won.  I played the Mohawks.  In the "Friday Players" frame, I'm the guy in the camo t-shirt.  The game was indeed a blast!  My gang felled one of the costumed heroes and one of his Blick Waych buddies, beat down a couple cops, and stole a cop car! :o

Yeah, and everything you did for the gangs, your buddies Ted and Gene did for the Blockwatch & Heroes the next morning. Thanks for playtesting my rules for me. Glad you had fun...

I can see why you were hanging your head in shame CapnJim with a record like that.  ;)

Mike the game looked pretty awesome and I liked your comic book style of presentation, what program are you using and did you find it reasonably easy to put together.

Best of luck with the rule set.
Cheers

Shame?  Who, me?  Heavens no!  I was, um, checking the time.  Yeah, that's it... ;)

I ended up just using Google Slides (their powerpoint presentation). It was easy enough to resize the photos, change the color and size of the photo borders, insert "callouts" (quotes), and so on. Under SHARE, I made it visible to anyone with the link, so I didn't have to individually share the document with people.

Thanks for the kind words, Vagabond! I really enjoyed your recent Pulp battle report and think your style is hilarious. Glad you enjoyed my little experiment with an AAR. I have heard there are programs out there that intentionally simulate a comic book output, but I haven't looked them up or tried anything, yet.

Haha! Thanks, Cat! Only I didn't add in an extra 20 minutes of scenes that didn't appear in the original...  lol

Thanks for the info Mike, I'm thinking of trying to do a story line in the comic book vein, not a wargame, just a story.
Cheers

Vaggers, that would fit me perfectly with your style of storytelling! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Still makes me laugh to see towns I know as a wargames setting! Bexley Blockwatch cracks me up. That is definitely how Bexley natives would do things. lol

Great looking table, and looks like a great game. I'm impressed by so many players. As someone who games solo primarily, I know how hard it can be to get people together to play.
