AWI Battle of Indian Field
« on: June 07, 2022, 11:16:27 PM »
I hosted an AWI game for my club, the battle of Indian Field which took place on August 31, 1778. Follow the link below to my Flickr page History in Miniature.

Lovely game!  At least Gist's boys gave those damnable traitors what for before they retired from the field!   :o

May I ask (and forgive me if I missed it) what rules you used?

Okay.  I read that twice, and missed it.  But I see it now... ???

Thanks for the reply though.  Looks like it was a good fight!

These games rarely go the way I envision. I expected the Seneca to come out screaming like banshees surprising the Rebels on the first turn. On the first turn the got certain advantages they would not get any other time. But the player decided to stay in the heavy woods and shoot at troops marching by. So they did nothing. On the Rebel first movement phase that player decided, for some reason, to send the Stockbridge Indians into the woods and they found the Seneca. They went into immediate melee and the Seneca ran away. The Seneca got surprised instead! Did not expect any of that to happen. You just never know what players will do.

lol.  That happens to us with some regularity.  The best example is a War of 1812 game I ran at a con (Queenston Hts., if I remember right).  The American militia saw the British regulars off nicely, while the British-allied Indians attacked the US regulars (in the open!), and handled them quite roughly!  Such go the fortunes of wargames... ;)

Are your club rules posted anywhere?

And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss
