Niccolò da Tolentino

This is Niccolò da Tolentino, Commander of the Florentine forces at San Romano in 1432, as in the famous painting. The man himself was painted by Redzed, the other minis by Shaun McTague and myself.



And here's the unit, 18 men in two ranks, which is my new personal standard for formed cavalry.

That is quite the hat! Those are beautifully painted and based figures - I always enjoy seeing your armies.

That looks great - am really interested to see what use is being made of Perry Miniatures plastic cavalry and how much modification is needed to depict various cavalry units in the Italian wars

Fantastic unit! The horses in particular great, and the added giorneas are a great idea.

Good size for a unit too - two ranks of 9. I don't like to see undersized heavy cavalry units, they need to look big and intimidating like this!

I can't seem to click for a larger size of the pic of the whole unit though? I'd love to see that in more detail.

Yes that's a really good question, which I'm not very qualified to answer. Certainly some of the clothes would change, but perhaps if one had some burgonets to go alongside the full face helms, one could carry at least some of the men-at-arms into the mid c.16th.

That's much better, thanks! They look great! The mounted crossbowmen in the back rank is a nice touch.
I looked through at your older Florentine units too - I particularly like the swordsmen.

Is that the Charlie doing the Burgundians? If so, I'm a big fan. I need to tackle Burgundians after the Florentines (and the Venetians, and the Milanese...)
