Greetings, all!

As YPU was kind enough to give me a tip of the lid in a recent thread about a new series of ships he's sculpting, I thought it only right and proper to show what sparked his enthusiasm.

This is the 'first pass' at a selection of ships I'm sculpting in (approximately) 1/1200, aiming for them to be roughly the same dimensions as the Brigade Imperial Skies ships. (Of course, these will be printable files, so can be scaled up or down to a degree.)

I'd be very much obliged if you'd let me know what you think of this look, and if it is something you'd throw your hard-earned coin at.  :D

Thank you for taking a look!

Operating from an abandoned US spy base somewhere in the Australian outback, Miniature Martin produces games and scale miniatures set in parallel worlds, past and future. He is NOT trying to take over the Earth. This time.

Thanks, lads! Eric, your game (and the upcoming Leviathans relaunch) seem to be sparking a revitalisation of VSF air combat; I was startled by the sheer volume of responses I received on Facebook gaming groups where I first posted these WIP shots.

I'm looking forward to receiving my copy of CitS, although it won't arrive 'til September, apparently. Dammit.  :-[

Any chance you can refresh the images?

I get 'URL expired', meaningless to an old man who started with Hollerith cards...  lol

Unto Perdition with this perfidious photogrammatical performance! I shall write to Mr Babbage with much promptitude, that he should know of my perturbation from his pococurante 'puter!

AHEM!

Takes out monocle, adjusts deerstalker

Photos should be good now. Please let me know if not.  :D

New pics soon, as am well into the detailing phase...

Here's some new renders of my Skyship BB with more details and greeblies. She's gained some weight, and four maneuvering engines have been added amidships.

There's also bomb racks, dorsal and ventral pilot houses, hatches and doors all over the place (watch that first step when you go out!), and wooden decks!

The two rectangular hole behind the broadside casemates are skyboat galleries, which will house some small craft for flitting between ships and making runs to the ground for brandy, cigars, and other vital victuals.

Getting close to finishing this model; I hope to get a test print out later this week, but in true, inimical Miniature Martin style, I'm already deep into sculpting another, slightly more historical project at the same time.  ::)

Still, hoping to show off a real object soon!

my one observation is that I am not particularly keen on the look of the gun turrets, but this might be the kind of thing where you could have a choice of turret styles.

Looks fantastic to me.  :-*

All those new do dads you added really make a difference.  :o

So, how long will it actually be?

I usually refrain from showing prints of my sculpts until they are available to buy. But, this first print of the Skyking class First Rate (at last it has a name...) was such a delight, I had to share. I hope you like it!

The Skyking is the first of the Skyships range. This will be a set of two steampunk-style fleets, each consisting of:2x 1st Rates, (Battleships), 1x 3rd Rate (Med. Cruiser), 1x 4th Rate (Scout Cruiser), and 1x 5th Rate (Destroyer).

If the range proves stupidly popular, I'll add some more ships, but this was eye-crossingly tough to build. (Too many teeny rivets!) Definitely a time-monster of a sculpt. Still, I'm looking forward to the next one!

The Skyking is 125mm long, and a multi-part kit. Peg-hole is 3mm dia. The Skyking should be available as an STL via the Miniature Martin My Mini Factory store this Friday. (26 Aug). Also available as a complete, printed kit. (PM me for details.)

It may have been a brain-bender to sculpt, but the result is amazing!
