Battle of Quatre Bras, C&G II - Devon Wargames Group
« on: July 23, 2022, 07:32:28 AM »
One of the games played at this month's meeting of the DWG was the Battle of Quatre Bras using Carnage and Glory II.

Computer moderated wargaming has some unique aspects to it that paper based, die rolling sets struggle to imitate and the game brought back very happy memories of games past using the system.

Great report!  We've never used a computer to aid our wargaming.  Just old school, I guess.  But it sounds interesting...

And a rough day to be Ney for sure.  Not sure how the Emperor will take this news... :o

Thanks for your comments chaps.

C&G is a unique system and creates a game that should be played at least once by any wargamer to appreciate what they are missing with the more traditional approaches to games.

Yes it was a hard day at the office for the French but the disguised set up by David was an intriguing way to play out the ‘What ifs’ he identified, and by keeping all involved in the dark about his changes to the orders of battle stopped any benefits of historical hindsight and produced lots of surprises, especially for me who at least had an inkling of what to expect from C&G.

Cheers
JJ
