British Infantry - Zulu Wars
« on: 12 October 2009, 07:12:24 PM »
From Black Tree Design.  Not the greatest figures, but lots of character and fun to paint.   :)

More photos on the Web Site

Started painting 6 of these for the last LPL but ran out of time.  So decided to paint the rest.

These will be going on Ebay at some time, unless someone wants to make me an offer.    ;)  (17 figures - 20mm square bases.)

Very nice OT.
I keep hearing comments that these aren't great figures, but they always look okay to me.
The officer with his helmet tucked under his arm really captures the character well.
I like the kneeling guy checking his breech too. Some of these are great - or look it from here anyway  ;)

I was thinking exactly the same thing.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I´ll join those good folks. I heard there were some uniform inaccuracies, but damn, they always looked so British to me. Lovely painting and excellent "unit effect".

Gorgeous painting as ever but I cannot get past the helmets. Just what are those ridges???

The red is fantastic and I really like the bases too.

Oooooh, nice work. The figures look fine (must be down to your painting skills!) but as Svennn says those helmets dont look right.
Don't!

I don't know how they look in blank, and they seem a bit disproportionate, but hey, what You have done with Your brush....

Agreed.
Fantastic painting as always Orctrader. The red really stands out.

You've painted the helmets too white... :-X
I told you so. You damned fools.

The heads are a bit large and I agree with the others that the helmets are wrong. This has put me off buying them in the past, despite the very attractive prices. Apart from that they are decent figures and the paintjob is superb!

Thanks chaps  :)

As others have commented, the helmets... :?  Then there are a few casting issues.  But, they are full of character.  And if someone is on a budget and wants proper metal figures BTD are bargain prices.  (If they actually deliver what you order.   ;) )

They're brave people if they do, going by other forums there's more than a few unhappy people out there. Shame as I'd buy from them. Hopefully things will improve.

Lovely paint job, I agree re the helmets, other than that can't see much problem.

I'd shuffle them round a bit before they go into action, otherwise the chap loading his Martini Henry in the front rank is about to lose an eardrum to the officer standing behind him  lol
