UVS 01/10/2022 - Ogre Infantry Walker
« on: 01 October 2022, 01:29:38 PM »
An Anvil Industries Ogre Infantry Walker takes cover behind a stack of crates, taking aim with a gauss rifle.

So what is an Infantry Walker?
I think the first mention I remember was in the GZG rulebook Dirtside (it might have been StarGrunt). It is basically a bipedal vehicle that is just about believable in terms of ground pressure.

In fiction it ranges from the walkers in Avatar, Womble Dreadnoughts, Star Wars Scout Walkers (AT-ST) possibly up to Labors.

Anvil Industries Ogre walkers are on the small side, probably not much bigger than the largest of Power Armours (Guges Landmates only count as power armour because the operators legs  are in the suit's legs - the suit's arms are slaved to the operators arms.

They are multi-part, multi-pose kits with three different leg poses (crouching, neutral and advancing) and two arm poses (neutral and firing). The body is available in a light and heavy armour configuration with different hatch covers and an optional pilot's head.

There are two weapon options, a three barrel autocannon and a gauss rifle.

They are in the signature Anvil white resin, cleanly cast with minimal flash (and almost no mould lines). Superglue bonds very quickly, make sure you have the pose right before bringing the parts together (the autocannon example is peering upwards due to a slight mistake during assembly).

Size wise, the pilot compartment looks like it would take an heroic 28mm figure.

The two examples I have assembled compared to a Martian Orbital Fusileer.

Anvil Exo-Lord (the second generation version - similar to Primaris wombles).

Ogres compared to Wargames Atlantic Cannon Fodder, Stargrave Crew II, Ghost Archipelago Sailor

I have recently bought some of the melee/CQB variants (sword/maul/gun and shield variants).

I like that mech a lot. I bought one several months ago but haven’t assembled or painted it yet. It’s good to see a couple assembled. I will be interested in seeing yours when it’s painted.
