Greetings, all!

I seem to have taken a turn towards naval gaming with ram and oar. As a result, I've started sculpting and printing some Triremes in 1/600, aiming to use them for the Punic Wars.

Two distinct, Roman, sculpts now, with a third to go (Carthaginian). All will come with both furled and full sail masts, oars at either the fore or back stroke, and different choices of prows, and signa (banners).

You might be able to spot the Gubernatores (helmsmen) in the photos, holding the tillers. And teeny, 3mm high Legionaries... 🙂

I'm going to go blind painting them. Blind!

This is a 'slow burn' project, so I don't scupper my current release schedule for Miniature Martin. But, I think the Triremes will be available for those interested towards the end of October. (Both as STLs and physical minis.)

I'm planning to mod 'Galleys and Galleons' to enable each side to comfortably field 30-40 galleys, essentially by making squadrons of 3-6 galleys the smallest unit, rather than individual ships.

On to the Quinquiremes after these!
Operating from an abandoned US spy base somewhere in the Australian outback, Miniature Martin produces games and scale miniatures set in parallel worlds, past and future. He is NOT trying to take over the Earth. This time.

Lovely models!

I'm currently (very slowly) painting 2mm stuff for Strength and Honour, I find the tiny stuff quite easy to paint as I'm going fo overall look, not detail.

Ancient galleys left their masts and sails ashore for battles so for nerds purists like me it would be nice to have an option with no masts. Just a thought.

Yes, Poseidon's Warriors. But that's ship-on-ship level, while I want to try for something that 'zooms out' a bit, and emphasises command and morale rather than ramming angle, etc.

So, I'm wanting to mod Galleys and Galleons, which uses the 'Songs of Blades and Heroes' engine, and see what I come up with.

Quite so, and these models come with separate masts, so there's always the option to leave them on the beach.

Bitten?  You should really have some look at that before the poison spreads!

Welcome aboard.  I look forward to what you come up with.  Those prints look really good.

They look great.
How long are they?
How much will they cost (already printed, I don't have a 3D printer)?

These look great.  Will you be including a Corvus as a option.

To limit the probability of going blind painting these, I would prefer to print them without the crew figures.

To limit the probability of going crazy sticking on tiny crew...leave them on.  :D
They could always be cut/filed off.

The Triremes are 65mm long. I'll probably cheat a little with the 'fours' 'fives' etc. by exaggerating their lengths, adding 4-5mm to each size, so they are easier to distinguish on the tabletop. (In reality, it seems there wasn't more than 5 metres difference in the lengths of ships from Trireme to Quinquireme.)

The figures on the decks are separate pieces. No way was I going to try printing them as parts of the same print as the hull. And I knew some folk would rather dispense with them altogether.

Prices are not determined just yet, but should fall in the range of AU$9-12. (About £5-7).

Working on the Carthaginians right now, and hope to have those ready before the end of the month.

Question: Would you choose to 3D print your bases if you picked these up, or are most folk more inclined to go with lasercut acrylic or MDF? (I prefer acrylic for its robustness.)
