Wargames Atlantic unarmored late Romans
« on: October 15, 2022, 06:44:47 AM »
These were announced several weeks ago, earlier than the victrix stuff. I searched, and did not find a thread about them. So here we are for discussion.

If I am mistaken, please point me in the right direction.

I really like the separate shield sprue. Nice natural poses. It looks like the head/neck interface is similar to Victrix and, in general, being able to mix some of the arms and heads between sets from different manufacturers is always attractive to those of us that like plastic kits.

Neck join will be near identical to the other decline and fall kits. The range is designed to be kitbashed together to make alternative unit types

Concept for a Palatini Comitatenses officer that I need to finish by using greenstuff to resculpt the cloak. (Edit: holy crap run on sentence batman.)

That's a nice figure- nice movement without over-the-top dynamic posturing.

Do you have GB late romans that can take a comparative photo please?
I have some GB and would like to expand with these but if they vary much in size i wont.

Not with the late Roman unarmored. Those are still in progress at the manufacturer and we don't have them in plastic yet.

Supposed above with the palatini was supposed to be posted on my blog and apparently I clicked the wrong thread.

Here’s a couple photos. The metal ones are Footsore (late Romans’) and Gripping Beast metal Norse Gael with spear, the lighter grey plastic is Gripping Beast and the darker grey are Wargames Atlantic (and a Wargames Foundry Ancient Germanic on the end).

Note the interchange of parts on the plastic Gripping Beast bodies of the Wargames Atlantic Armoured Late Romans parts.

I took the last one a bit farther away so you can see them from a bit more of a distance.

Thanks for the comparison shots. It is pretty amazing to me to see so many options becoming available.

Lord Marcus. I thought the unarmoured figures had been released as I am sure I saw something on the web, but can't find it now! The main Wargames Atlantic site doesn't show them in the shop, so guess we have to wait longer!
