Not to promote any kind of competition or anything, but is the Goalsystem comparable to Rattrap's .45 Adventures?  I already have that series,  but I'm always on the lookout for more pulpy goodness.

I'm having a bit of pickle trying to find an online store selling the PDF.  DriveThruRpg.com doesn't have it, nor do the Blue Moon Manufacturing site and Old Glory site.  Is Saber the only place it is avalible through?

Although I just checked the site and don't see it yet. Should be there soon, I should think.

Competition is good. No reason to feel bad about it.  :)

I am not sure how the new Chaos is, but the old one was based around pre-generated groups (these matched up with the figures available from Blue Moon). There was no system for building your own characters. Also, the goalsystem I believe is based around the multiple d6 approach where you accumulate d6s based on skills and abilities and other factors. You roll all of them at once.

It's very popular in Supersystem so I assume the "Chaos in..." titles are just as popular.

I'll keep an eye out for it then, that site has a Goalsystem Fantasy listed that I may pick up too.

Thanks! I would be remiss in not thank Karl Perrotton, who kicked so much ass on the layout. Thanks, Karl!

No, it's quite different. It doesn't need a game master, the scenarios in the books are made for battles between warbands. It's works with more models than Rattrap, usually around 7-14. You have froce lists to choose your warband from. It's faster and more about fighting action, usually played on a 4x4 table. Figures move around 10" when running and cover ground pretty fast.

I think it's a nice addition to .45 when you want to use your characters for slightly bigger battles.

It's a great book, better than Carpathia I'd say. Great characters in the warbands and the vehicle rules are also very good.

As the designer of Cairo, I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone for the compliments and apologize for the ill-timed computer crash that made me delay posting here.

Folks have been asking for a character building points system since we released Chaos in Carpathia so we're going to get to work on that and we'll have a download available soon on the Blue Moon site. All I ask is a little patience as we have a convention coming up and we're swamped with work right now.

I would be curious to find out what folks think of the vehicle rules. We playtested them pretty thoroughly but there always seems to be something we missed so let us know.

Before I forget, big thanks to:
Scott Pyle for coming up with the Goalsystem engine and getting me enthused about this project,

Tom Weiss and Agis Neubaur for playtesting and the use of Tom's excellent photos!

Karl Perrotton for his amazing layout work. I'd like to take the credit for how good the book looks but it's all Karl's work, believe me.

I will be happy to answer questions and welcome any feedback, positive and negative so feel free to post away.

Hmm, no character design system is a bit of a turn-off... how many characters/archetypes are available for each warband?

There are 4 Warbands, Archaeologists, Cultists, Swords of Ra and Mummies.

Each warband has a mandatory leader and three or four minor characters that vary in number (usually 1-3 but some types are unlimited in number). Each warband can also recruit a henchmen group unique to that warband.

There are also Special & Unique characters that must recruited and paid a retainer to stay with the warband. Special characters include Bedouin Guide, Big Game Hunter, Street Urchin, etc. Unique characters are personalities from the Chaos In Cairo first-edition game and include Baron von Draken and Johnathon Nestor. As an added twist, a warband that recruits the Unique character Jean-Claude DuBois also has the option to hire a henchmen group of French Foreign Legionnaires.

Several archtypes are relatively similar (the bodyguards, soldiers of fortune  and Swords of Ra fighters, for instance) but you end up with around 24 different archetypes to use in the game.

Thus far I've only seen CiC available from Sabre's Edge. Is that it? (No problem; just curious.)
