New Tribal edition out
« on: 23 November 2022, 11:11:19 PM »
The 2nd edition of Tribal has finally been released. Nice looking book, no significant changes to core rules, but a lot of the special skills from Primeval and Brutal have been put in the main rulebook (+ blackpowder gun rules for those who want their tribal war to extend into colonial conquest)

It's a fine set of rules, unlike just about anything else on the market.

North Star are getting it soon, I think, but the service from Mana Games is first rate.

This is exciting - though having said that I have yet to try the first edition. Tad annoying how these new editions keep coming out... but not the less still good news.

The new book is in a nicely bound A5 size which makes transport easier. It is beautifully laid out, lots of eye candy inside. Although I am a bit sad they swapped the Maori Face for a Native American one.  I am keen to try out the Trojan Wars rules suggestions, including chariots to get your heroes into battle quickly.

I used these rules for a small early hominid campaign, my Homo Heidelbergensis  tribe proving why the race are now extinct. :)

Lots of fun and the combat system was a refreshing change from buckets of dice.

Quite intrigued by this. Any ideas on mini's for the Primeval supplement?

I used 15mm for my Primeval collection.
Homo Heidelbergensis - Copplestone Picts and Some Crom's Anvil tribesmen.

Homo Neanderthalensis - Acheson, no longer available I think.
Homo Sapiens - mainly Khurasan with some Copplestone characters
Homo Denisova - Eureka Hawaiians
Homo Floresiensis - Magister Militum 10mm Cavemen

I offered to collect the figures for the group. Hence Homo Floresiensis - someone always has to be a smart ass.  lol

I ran a mini-campaign, largely with unpainted minis blutacked onto MDF bases, but when Covid hit the group scattered. With no impetus to finish, the project is on the back burner.

The Lucid Eye range are excellent, if a little Hollywood.

Hi Ithoriel

Thanks for the list.  I have most of those same ones in my 15mm collection, still unpainted unfortunately.

By the way, back when I collected and painted 28mm figures, I converted several pygmies and short Neanderthals to be my Floresiensis:

A little?  :)
Lovely figures though.
Where's Raquel Welch in their range, that's what I want to know.

I’m a fan of Khurasan minis, but I wasn’t aware there are 28mm cavemen in their ranges.
