No one has mentioned Eureka's Avalon Burning range, which is 17th century:

A mixed bunch, but there's a spooky looking witch hunter there who might be interesting.

Have you looked at Brigade Games Musketeers range? It's roughly the same period.

I have, but it's all a bit too early unfortunately.  In the film Hopkin's opponents are specifically generic Parliamentarian cavalrymen and whilst there are plenty of suitable mounted models about there are virtually none on foot.  I ordered some dismounted troopers from Redoubt last year and, aside from the fact that they took a full two months to arrive (apparently they lost half of my address or something...), wasn't especially impressed by their quality (not, you understand, a dig at Redoubt's wares in general).  As this would be a skirmish game with few minis at the very least half-decent sculpts representing the good-guys would probably be pretty much requisite.  Here's a pic I nicked from the Sealed Knot's website to illustrate what I'm after (but on foot):

As I mentioned previously on this thread Foundry have got a suitable pack, but I've been told their ECW range is on the small side...  It seems weird to me considering all the great ECW manufacturers out there (Perry, Bicorne, Warlord and Renegade) that their aren't any dismounted Ironsides!

Interesting!  I quite like the look of the witch-finder fella.

Foundry do at least one - I have him  :D

He's standing firing pistol using his left arm as a rest. There may well be others (I think I've seen one with a carbine), as I also have a dismounted Cuirassier with sword. I believe they were released to represent cavalry used as elite "storming party" troops, which was one of their functions at sieges, apparently. Don't know if they were part of a specific pack, as I got mine in a bumper bag off EBay.

I'm not entirly sure it's teh same period, but I did find tehse minis which are obviously based on the superb french film Brotherhood of the Wolf and I thought they would look good in your pre-gothic horror. What do you think, am I barking up the wrong historic tree?

I'm afraid tricornes would be a big no-no for the ECW Rob, though those are definitely some spiffy looking models.  A werewolf campaign set in mid-eighteenth century England with dragoons, highwaymen et cetera would be a great way to utilise them, but as usual I'm getting carried away with myself.

There's a bit of threadomancy for you! Do I get an award of some description for beginning a project so long after originally touting it? To be honest my interest in gaming this 'period' hasn't really abated, but has been recently reinvigorated by Halloween-inspired viewings of 'orror classics like Witchfinder General, Blood on Satan's Claw, The Banshee and Twins of Evil. Add to this that since visiting several re-enactment as a lad the ECW is one of my preferred historical period and you can perhaps understand my undying enthusiasm for this enterprise! I cannot of course ignore the influence of anevilgiraffe's excellent 'Folk Horror' project, of which my own will be but a mere shadow.

Okay, for the 'good' side I'm using historical miniatures exclusively (this will also allow me to collect minis to run 'straight' ECW skirmishes) and have settled on a combination of Warlord, Foundry, Perry and Eureka. So far I've picked up the Warlord Clubmen Militia and Fire and Brimstone packs, from which the miniatures below are variously taken. Lovely sculpts with my only criticism being that they required a fair bit of cleaning up before I could get at 'em with the acrylic. The remainder of the clubmen - a motley bunch - are on the painting bench awaiting the attentions of my brush. As to the 'evil' opponents I have plenty of ideas, but plan to unveil them only as I buy and paint 'em! Enough waffle and on with the lead:

Excellent paintwork and an angle on the ECW that doesn't send me into a torpor, cheers  8)

You, sir, have all the punctuality of a British railway franchise.  The good ideas and nice models go some way towards making up for this fact, however.

splendid stuff... and some lovely pj's there, looking forward to seeing this...

regarding your earlier search for dismounted cavalry men, Warlord now (assuming they didn't back then) do some as part of the petard assault team
http://www.warlordgames.com/store/pike-shotte/the-english-civil-wars-1642-1652/royalist-parliamentarian-petard-assault-team.html

they are (or were) available seperately as I have some in the queue...
