Foundry and Gripping Beast size
« on: January 04, 2023, 11:43:32 PM »
Would Foundrys Arthurians mix well with Gripping Beasts?
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Personally I find them too small but then I am quite OCD about mini sizes.  My friend Ian always observes that since people are different heights, why shouldn't minis be different?

I would agree with BigRedBat.  Whilst I admit that people can be different sizes, there is normally some form on "internal consistency" within a range that allows figures to look large of small but not inconsistent  ( eg weapon and shield sizes). For me the Foundry Arthurians are more 25mm and Gripping Beast 28mm plus. You could probably mix  units of both in the same army but I wouldn't mix figures within the same unit.

I'm with Simon (Bigredbat) and SJWi.

foundry are smaller though I have mixed some Franks/Saxon into my Anglo Danish units with success. I do however think that the reason they fit in is more to do with number of different manufacturers in each unit.....

As Westwall says Warlord and GB go together as do Footsore. Westwind's Arthurians are also OK even if I found the separate heads infuriating to fit. The GB sculpts are actually quite old now.

I'll go with Warlord, GB and Footsore as I like my units to fit well together sizewise. I'll be skipping Crusader to as I find they are also to small, the foot soldiers anyway some of the cavalry scale well with GB, but not all of Crusaders cav do.
Thanks

ps Artizans dark age figures are on the same size scale as Crusader.

I just received some late romans and see what you mean, the moulds a showing their age, I think I'll be looking elsewhere for my romans, but they have so many types no one else make, like rus, I'll still be picking some up .
