I was happy to get a longer episode this week, but I ended up disappointed when it turned out to be mostly about something else.
Loved the start of the episode, but to switch focus like that wasn't cool.

Felt like an episode of Andor bookended by The Mandolorian.

Also, didn't enjoy this weeks episode of The Bad Batch either.

Hopefully Picard on Friday will buck the trend.

In fact it was. It's so much like my beloved Clone Wars twists and yet nobody knows waht it's good for.
Clever move to shroud her motivation, a traitor she is for sure, but to whom? Moff Gideon? Empire? New Republic? Somebody else? Is it about cloning or the dark sword? Is it about red herrings or breaking links? I loved it!

Okay, I admit most of the viewers want to see a story about cool Mandalorians (err, not Boba Fett anymore, I guess - I said COOL ones), but I actually enjoy STAR WARS and if Mando's show is the vehicle to grant me (more) great visions of Coruscant, I'm perfectly happy with it!

Confirmed!

Confirmed as well. I was hoping to see Crosshair's fate after the previous episode's cliffhanger and then there was this...  :(

I enjoyed the latest, but I thought it was out of place.

I think it's an important episode as its showing the hypocrisy and failings of the New Republic - the Old Republic needed tearing down and replacing (not with the Empire) as it was corrupt and in decline, not saving - and restoring it has just brought back all the old problems.   Except this time there's no Jedi to try to hold it together.
The couple talking to Pershing who said words to the effect of 'we try and stay out of politics' represent the laissez-faire attitude that enabled the Empire in the first place, and is probably as close as Mando will get to the explicit message of Andor, tbh.

It's incredibly fertile ground to retroactively seed the rise of the First Order - and whatever comes next.

I enjoyed the Bad Batch - a relatively peaceful interlude after quite a heavy episode last week - but yeah, I want to know what's going to happen to Crosshair.  I suspect it won't be pretty.

That's it in a nutshell for me. I watch Mando for the 'Pew pew'. I enjoyed Andor for looking at how the Empire impacted everyday life and I would absolutely love a Tales of the New Republic live action anthology show.

Also, I think the feel good ending of The Return of the Jedi is being watered down - here's The New Republic, not as bad as The Empire! I guess in a galaxy of a trillion inhabitants; the day to day life experience of those citizens hasn’t changed much at all in the last 20 years - other than a change of logo/flag/icon etc.

Yes; I'm curious to see where that storyline will lead. I mean; it'll tie in with Mando's again sooner or later and I'm intrigued to find out exactly how.

It does show how the road to hell is paved with good intentions. And also how middle-management usually survives any take-over, will continue business as usual and nothing really changes in the end. You simply can't replace them all; the entire machine of civilisation relies on them. For better or worse.

And the ending of RotJ is not diminished I feel; it was heartfelt and real at that particular point in time. People were genuinly relieved to be rid of the Empire. But what is growing in its vacuum? Who's to tell? One thing is certain; it will probably not be as idylic as people hoped.

But for the great majority of people in the galaxy this does not really matter; as long as there is stability and a reasonable level of freedom, they'll be just fine with whatever flag flies overhead, I gather...

We started watching episode 3 but...it was in FRENCH !!!!
Tried lots of things, including going into the settings & choosing English.
Nothing worked, still in French.
Anyone have an idea how to fix this? My French is almost non existent.  :-[

How were you watching it (i.e. smart TV, PC, casting etc etc?)

I'd suggest try a log out, then log back in.  If it's a smart TV or Fire stick, try turning the power off to the TV, wait 30 seconds and turn back on.  If a Fire stick or similar, unplug, wait 30s, plug back in.  Something might have got 'stuck' in memory.  It happens.

Additional world building is a must for me.

I love the world building, it's one reason why Andor is so amazing, as well as showing us a better civilian perspective - which is largely true of a lot of wars and conflicts historically. Lots of victims of different regimes who all promise change but largely fail to, or know they won't. Sometimes the same people even.

That said, I think the success of Mando has been, in season one and two for certain, that each episode was a story in it's own right with a plot whilst it also incorporated a larger story arch and again, world building. I think the last episode broke away from that more than any others have done, and the cliff hanger set up at the end of the previous episode seemed to build it up to a bit of an anti-climax.

That's not to say it still wasn't good and that it delivered on other levels. It just felt a bit more like Andor or Fett than the Mando episodes we have been used to. Certainly not as "sci fi western".

Thanks Cypher I'll try those.
