My almost finished 11th Hussars
« on: 06 February 2023, 07:25:37 AM »
Comrades,

It's been a couple of years since I advanced my Balaclava passion project. I understand the Crimean War is a bit niche but for those interested, pleased find the attached link to my project blog. I'm waiting on 'boxer' to complete the unit properly. https://balaclavabuild.blogspot.com/2023/02/11th-hussars-my-version.html

Very nice - I could get drawn in to the Crimean War very easily, and you don't help with those fabulous figures

Thanks Frank and Pete.

Pete ... go for it.

I've been expanding my working ORBATs (quite detailed) and one of the problems with any figure range for British Crimean cavalry was the relatively small numbers present. If you collect at 1:20 representative scale/ratio each cavalry regiment is six figures only. I'm boosting my cavalry to 1:10 and keeping infantry to 1:20.

Aly's Great War range is just superb but incomplete. We need more Crimean War collectors to encourage and inspire our sculptors back to their tables.

Yes I think I may have missed the boat for the moment, all the figures ranges seeming to winding down somewhat. I can't see that the British Lancers or Hussars are still available from GWM, and they would have been my first port of call.

Such well painted figures!

I will follow your project with interest as I am planning an Alma game for my birthday in July, using it as an excuse to finish my Crimean War collection.

You're right too....we need more Crimean War figures in 28. Khmorg's figures will be available through Eureka which will enhance the Russians but the poor Turks need some love!
