We recently ran a Battlegroup Normandy game at a local Pub, the West Salem Public House, that I happen to be an owner of! Made scheduling easy! It was great to have a lot of non-gamers and boardgamers coming by asking questions and really interested in historical miniatures.
The games was a scenario I created. The US assault on Magneville on 9 June 1944. This was based on accounts I found online and an ASL scenario.
Americans
Forward HQ
105mm artillery support
Platoon HQ
4 rifle squads
Bazooka team
HMG
MMG
4 Shermans
M8 Scout
Germans
Forward HQ
80mm mortars
Platoon HQ
3 Grenadier squads with panzerfausts
Panzerschreck
HMG with dugout
MMG
Pak 40
The Americans progressed cautiously through the hedgerow country. A forward German squads failed miserably in their attempt to destroy a Sherman with PF and pin any American infantry. The American firepower did eventually takes its toll with the Germans getting within 3 of their Battle Rating when the German player (me) conceded the game.
All told it was a ton of fun and great to have 4 local gamers, all who do 20mm WWII, out to play and get to spread it to the community.
Here are some photos.
