Goal System Fantasy?
« on: October 26, 2009, 06:11:47 PM »
While looking for Chaos in Cairo on wargamedownloads.com, I came across this little book for $2.95.

Has anyone here tried it out?  Is it closer to the Supersystem, or Chaos in Carpathia (rules wise).  Would you reccomend it (or not)?

I am a big fan of the Goal System and a friend of Scott Pyle's so my heavy biased opinion is that it is a great game in a small package.  Its a bit more like Supersystem with its character generation system. As far as combat goes its been a bit long for me to remember where it stands between the two systems. The system came about from people like me asking Scott to doing something so we could use the Goal System engine with fantasy figs. Scott's also a big fantasy fan too so there wasn't much arm twisting involved. It went hand in hand with the d20 supplement he did a while back. That might have been the initial impetus actually. Hard to remember these things as I sit here at work.

I had tried to buy the rules ( and Cairo and Carpathia) but they only seem to accept paypal, at least their site always produces and error message when you do not have a paypal account.

Are there any other places where I could buy the rules (without paypal  :) )

It's a hybrid of the two. It offers some greater flexibility in char gen, but with some of the simplified elements of CIC combat.
