Fire and Fury - 28mm basing
« on: 20 March 2023, 12:05:37 PM »
I have a 28mm ACW collection which I have had for over 25 years.  I have not used these in a while but have started refurbishing for Fire and Fury.

I have completed the first 49 stands. I washed the figures and then touched up chipped paint and resealed with a fresh coat of varnish.

I have still have about 600 figures to do before its completed and now doubt I will need to buy a few extra  command figures and some flags to replace some of the old battered and faded ones.

I really love your basing. I was a reenactor and one of my gamer pet peeves is troops in line spaced too far apart. My 15mm Fire and Fury armies are based in the recommended size, but with six figures. I always felt the three figures to a base looked like a skirmish line. Well done!

Yes, nice figures and nice basing.

"I always felt the three figures to a base looked like a skirmish line."  Okay, but many period illustrations show long lines of figures advancing and only one man deep.  Then another line as the first well behind and several such lines with such separation.  I base my figures based on those illustrations - though I don't use F&F, find them too wonky.  But they are popular.

Bring up the guns.

I am now about 75% through rebasing my old 28mm collection for Fire and Fury and have completed the artillery.

My basing style is influenced by the David Greenspan Chancellorsville battle map. The light groundworks include patches of red earth.

I have about 60 more infantry bases to complete as well as markers and command bases.

Fire and Fury was always one of my favourite rule sets - doing it 28mm is going to look great and this looks to be a superb start.

I have started doing the same conversion with my 25/28mm ACW that is individually based for Brother against Brother but using the Carnage & Glory basing 1.5” x 1.5” for 4 figures.

How are you adjusting movement and firing ranges?

I am using the standard 15mm scale measurements and it plays fine.  The 15mm movement and ranges are long enough.
