Greetings,
I am Mike Garland from Colorado Springs. I started board wargaming over 50 years ago with Avalon Hill's Panzerblitz. I still play board wargames and own several hundred of them. I moved to Colorado Springs for a new job in 1997 (expect to retire from it not too far in the future) and was introduced to miniature gaming at a local gaming club Colorado Springs Gamers Association. I got hooked on minis and have a bunch of miniature stuff too. Lean a lot more towards miniatures these days.
Not very productive as far as painting figures or building terrain, but have ambitions of doing both. I organized miniature events at a couple of annual conventions in Denver for five years 2011 to 2015. The conventions were more focused on RPGs and general boardgames than wargaming, but were still fun. Then they changed ownership and swung way more more cosplay and such. I was pretty busy at work and dropped out of helping run them.
I am pretty eclectic with regard to historical periods I am interested in and am happy to play fantasy and sci-fi too. I guess I lean a bit more toward WWII and hypothetical cold war gone hot microarmor and maybe six mil sci-fi after that.
One of the guys at the club ran a Lord of the Rings themed game using Dragon Rampant a couple of weeks ago, posted about it on this forum and sent a link to the club mailing list. I poked around here a bit and signed up yesterday. Hope to get inspired to work more towards painting and building more stuff of my own.
Thanks,
Mike G.
