Is Donnington Operational?
« on: 10 April 2023, 11:40:25 PM »
Does anyone know what's going on with Donnington, aka Ancient & Modern Army Supplies?

I had placed an order for a painted army back in the summer of 2019.  The order was running behind schedule already when the pandemic hit.  Lockdowns in Wales kept the studio from operating, fair enough.  Last year there were a couple of different notices posted on the website about dates that outstanding orders would be completed.  Those dates came and went.  There are no current notices at all, and Damian hasn't been responding to emails this year.

From looking at my emails, I last received an order from them in October 2022, and before that in June 2022, and both shipped within a week of the order. I've also ordered in 2021 and 2020, always arriving about a week after the order. All of mine have been unpainted models though.

Did you never receive that order?
I was thinking of ordering a few bits soon.
My armies:
- Henry VIII's army (WIP) 15mm
- Ancient Germans (28mm)
- Ancient Belgae (Gauls with German allies) (28mm)
- Massilian Greeks (Greeks and Gallic mercenaries/subjects) (28mm)
- A few EI Romans (28mm)
- Handful of WW2 British (15mm)
- A load of old 1993-1999ish Warhammer Orcs and Goblins

No, I never received the painted order.  We've had some email communication in prior years, and it looked like completion on the painting was going to get done last year.  But radio silence now alas.

Know nothing of status but glad you posted this since I was contemplating a smallish order.  Will hold off until I hear there is a favorable resolution.

That's not good. They should at least refund you if they aren't in a position to get the job done.

Disappointing as I like using them and really like the way they do single figures, good prices, and a huge range of small items like individual weapons (which must be fiddly to make in 15mm and with little profit for the bother).

I hope Damian is alright.  Yeah, getting my deposit back at least would be nice.

Taking last year's announcements down from the website but not posting any update does leave things quite in limbo.

He's not listed as a trader at Salute, so that removes an easy avenue of enquiry.

Well, I did hear from Damian today.  He's on an extended trip right now and due back next week.  Painting studio should be up and running again at reduced capacity.

I suspect unpainted minis are shipping out, it's the painting studio what got particularly hammered by covid issues and heavy lockdowns in Wales.
