Any ideas on mtd Zulus?

Hi,

Does anyone know of a figure maker, who makes mounted Zulus, which are comparable in size to the Foundry Zulu War range (which is old with 'smaller' figures) or has anyone got any ideas on which Foundry figures I could convert to make Mtd Zulus - I've considered  Numidian LC but they are wearing tunics.

At the moment the only ones I can think of are by Black Tree Design. These are quite a bit bigger than Foundry. I wouldn't use them in the same unit but personally am happy to use them together in separate units on the table.

As to conversions, I'd opt for using the top half of Zulus fixed onto any suitable riders' legs.  Anything wearing a short tunic could fairly easily be converted into Zulu dress, so possibly your Numidians might work here.

If you can find them Ral Partha did a mounted Zulu in their colonial range. I think I saw some where that some of their stuff was back in production. Though their figures are a little smaller than the foundry ones.

I think it would be a pretty safe bet that Empress will do some at some point but as bigbum says Zulu torsos on riding legs would be pretty easy conversions. There are lots of ancients ranges that would work and as you are only after bare feet and legs they do not have to be of African origin as they will be once painted.
