Scratchbuilding with foam core

Over the years I've found foam core a very versatile material for making buildings whether it's for 12mm, 20mm or 28mm. It cuts easily, is light and yet is very sturdy. Just when I think it's been superseded by MDF or 3D printing along comes a good reason to get it out and use it again. You have been an inspiration on CoC and 20mm.

I have switch over to ‘Foamex’, similar to foamcore but made from pvc.
Besides buildings I use it for all of my terrain basing as it does not warp (unless you put a ton of PVA on it). I glue it together with super glue and modpodge.

I do all of my scratchbuilding and terrain with foamcore. However it does help that I work at a museum and have a near limitless supply of offcuts and old signage from exhibits.
It has the added benefit that if you lift up my terrain pieces you can actually learn stuff from the remaining bits of text

I am envious Dr. A friend used to work at a printers & USED to be similarly lucky with
offcuts & interesting (pushed out) shapes that he would rescue from the bins for me.
Alas my stock is dwindling since he took early retirement. The cost in Art & Hobby shops
is crushing.
