Looking for 28mm French Troupes de Marine
« on: 05 November 2009, 11:22:06 PM »
I know of Dixon's nice Dahomey range that includes French Foreign Legion & Marines, but are there any others?

Primarily, I'm looking for pith helmeted infantry without a purpose built equipment belts like this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:FrenchMarsouinsIndochina1888.jpg

Askari has some french infantry with pith helmets, but they're in marching poses, & not terribly combative.

Someone suggested French from the Boxer Rebellion, but Redoubt's Boxer French don't have pith helmets, & Old Glory's packs have too many for what I need.

Also, any idea what the difference is between Dixon's FFL & Marine figures?  I've seen the pictures of them that someone posted here on LA about 2 years ago, but I couldn't really see any differences.

Thanks

Remember, remember, the Dalek December
With Paris in ruins and London in ember
In times of the future when fears are abating
Don’t try to forget them, the Daleks are waiting
Quietly planning and scheming and hating…

For the Dixon  range, check out kelroywashere.blogspot.com or his thread on the colonial board. I can't link it because I'm on my phone :( . The victoria lamb sculpt that eureka sell is lovely , but not a very active pose so may not help.

Brilliant!  Thanks a lot Mors (& Kelroy).

Only difference I can see is that the Marines seem to be wearing gaters & the FFL aren't.

Thanks for the help.

The marines also have a small fitting on top of there helmet, the name escapes me at the moment. Kelroys figures look great.
