Claymore 2023
« on: August 05, 2023, 11:33:43 PM »
Claymore is held in Edinburgh at the Granton Campus of Edinburgh College on the first Saturday in August.

I spent a chunk of today at the show with my older son and had a whale of a time, as always.

Caught up with various friends who were, or still are, members of The South East Scotland Wargames Club, the club that runs the show. Also had a chat with Leon, of this parish, and Pete Berry of Baccus. Couple of folks I usually see weren't in evidence so hopefully they were just lost somewhere in the melee and not unable to attend due to ailments or misfortune.

Lots of great games on show and a varied selection of traders. I picked up some 6mm Battletech scenery from Mighty Minis which will become 20mm scenery for 5 Parsecs ... when I eventually get back to that. But those and a sample of the Wofun flats were all my acquisitions. Have to say, now I've seen them on the table, and in view of my abysmal painting rate, I'm rather taken with the Wofun stuff.

For inspiration, pictures I took of of the games here https://imageshack.com/a/9UzW7/1
Hopefully I've turned those images that needed it the right way up!

There are 100 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data.

I was there, with three of my four children in tow; my first visit since moving (last August) to a house that's literally around the corner from the Granton Campus, which is very handy for Claymore!

The hobby budget's a little tight just now, so the only thing I bought was a single bottle of paint and some brushes!

I also got to see Hobgoblin again, for the first time since last summer!

Looking at this photo from your collection...

This game, which was hosted by Warbases (making use of their beautiful new dungeon tiles), my eleven-year-old son joined in (he's just off camera, to the left) and he had an absolute blast doing so.
