28mm service caps non peaked
« on: August 18, 2023, 02:40:20 PM »
Are there any plastic figs with service caps (fore & aft style)? I want to do some RAF types for Crete in 1941, paint would solve most of this but caps would finish them off nicely.
Cheers,

Not plastic, but Warlord does a sprue of forage-capped heads in metal.

Yeah, we had a very colorful (and unrepeatable in mixed company) name for them when I was in the US Army....

Yes but the cap was deliberate ploy to draw attention away from the fact that they were wearing suede desert boots and short shorts.* Rather the appellation be directed at the headwear than the man wearing it. Viewed in plan form the local name for the cap is obvious.  ;)

By the by I have found that many 1/48 figures will work with 28mm, especially if some judicious trimming is made below the knee. Heads usually transfer seamlessly. In this vein I offer you:

Plenty of spare heads and readily available in local model shops.

Mystery contents but coming up and may be better in terms of theatre specifics.

Seems that Revell do a licensed version. Bit expensive for 3 C Caps. Might look for 3D printed.
