15/18mm Napoleonic engineers

Does anyone make engineers in this scale? I have some pioneer figures (e.g., several from CGM), but can't seem to find engineers. Am thinking (for French) of using dismounted dragoons. Suggestions and leads welcome! Thanks in advance.

Tony Barton says that he's sculpted some French Imperial Guard Engineers, so expect them to appear from AB Figures at some point (though there is A LOT of stuff currently in the production-queue).  However, I don't know if these will just be in standard 'drill' poses, or will include some doing engineery-stuff.

So yes, they're coming from AB, but be patient.

Check out Minifigs - I think now through Caliver.  Challenge might be finding a photo to see if they are what you want.

AB would be brilliant, and I will look to Caliver/Minifigs also. I actually think there are some engineers in 10mm (Pendraken?) so I'm slightly surprised at the lack in 15/18mm. Opportunity knocks!! My lead pile would toss me if I changed scales.

Others with suggestions or leads would be most welcome.

As Jemima says, Guard Engineers in parade poses are coming, but do I presume from your interest that you want engineers doing things, like digging gun positions, or building pontoons, or whatever?

Hi there,

Thanks for responding. Parade-type poses would excellent (Guard and Line) and I look forward to them. But yes, a smattering of engineers carrying tools and/or in slightly more action poses would be awesome, including field armour. These, when based, would provide the construction or assault force for building or tearing down field works, sieges, or other tasks. 1/72 has a smattering of such figures (though most gamers seem to use conversions) and Warlord has a 28mm set, though in greatcoats.

But Guard Engineers will be VERY kindly received! Thanks for all your incredible work.

It's the same for 28s. Gripping beast do some French sappers, and someone does pontooneers if memory serves (they might be SYW but, the men up to their chest in the water, in shirtsleeves, are almost any period figures) but the pickings are few and far between. I guess it's a time investment Vs profit equation for most manufacturers - no one ever needs whole battalions of men swinging a pick/axe/shovel - when there are usually more pressing 'needs' on their to do list. Definitely a nice to have and more would be good, in every scale.
