A (free) ECW painting guide
« on: August 29, 2023, 03:50:23 PM »
Since starting Bloody Miniatures two and a half years ago, I've had a fair few requests for a painting guide, and I finally got around to it :)

It includes painting techniques, tips and detailed walk-throughs, as well as background on the armour, clothing and accoutrements of the period - and how to represent these on inch-high wargames figures.

I’ve contributed painting guides to several publications down the years (and shared A LOT of it here on LAF before lol), so you may feel like you’ve read some of it before. I paint the way I paint, and tend to describe it pretty much the same way every time.

Of course there are many ways to paint wargames figures - the way I do it is just one of them, and it's probably nothing you haven't seen in other painting guides. But I hope you find something new, interesting or useful in there.

The guide is available now on the Bloody Miniatures website, in the 'Downloads and Extras' section.

On that web page, click on the image of the painting guide and it will open the PDF (16Mb). You should then be able to save it to your own device to read at your leisure.

A brilliant guide Richard - a lot of hard work went into it.

Unfortunately no amount of good guidance from you is getting me to your level mate.  lol

Good stuff. I'm going to be trying a few of the ideas in this.

Bizarrely just found the Bloody newsletter about this in my junk folder, seems to be every third one or so that it suddenly decides it doesn't approve of.

Thanks all.

Bizarrely just found the Bloody newsletter about this in my junk folder, seems to be every third one or so that it suddenly decides it doesn't approve of.

Yes, it’s very weird. The previous email I sent came back with 300 ‘bounces’. This latest one only 12 ‘bounces’, but goodness knows how many disappear into spam. Only something like 65% ever show as ‘read’ - which is weird, because it only goes to existing customers or people who have subscribed to the mailing list of their own volition. So it seems unlikely that a third of those people wouldn’t bother reading the occasional email they’ve elected to receive. So yes, I suspect that perhaps 25% of each mail-out I do disappears into spam / trash folders. Sigh. Technology really does suck sometimes  lol
