Yonks ago I bought some of the wonderful Highgate Miniatures vampires, started painting them, then put them away. It is now time for them to go back into the world of the living. When I got them I decided that they owe as much to Anne Rice as to Bram Stoker, and that they need a traditional New Orleans cemetery in which to unlive. This is the prototype tomb for the Cimetière Saint-Jacques. (Saint-Jacques because my birthday is St. James' day.)

I have no idea what a tradition New Orleans cemetery tomb looks like, but I guess I'll be finding out! Sounds perfect for this small competition too  8)

A late start because full-size work has been going on at home.
Here we have a picture of the Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau's tomb in New Orleans, the prototype for this build.
Also my made-to-be-ignored plan.
Off to the table saw in the garden before the weather gets 'orrible again!

For a moment there I thought you said you were building a 1:1 tomb at home!  :o

It's an excellent choice of topic, and has loads of potential. Good luck with the weather!

Missed chance to call this thread Tales from the Crypt!

I do look forward to the result though! Also, cheers for pointing me to the Highgate Miniatures... miniatures!

I wish I had thought of a small mausoleum- it's an excellent idea for a terrain piece.

The first two bits of MDF glued together. I hope to finish the main construction today then do the detailing, and perhaps the roof, tomorrow. I'll post more pictures at the end of the day to show progress.

I like the concept and how it is going forward.
Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

Thanks,

This is as far as I got before I ran out of daylight. The main body (sorry!) of the tomb with the upper part of the caveau behind.

For an explanation of these tombs see;

Although in this case the caveau will be used for the disposal of food leftovers!

More later.
