02 Hundred Hours, Germans
« on: 27 September 2023, 12:09:17 PM »
Germans for 02 Hundred Hours, basic set and Guards of Facility 9; a quick and dirty job on these gaming pieces, but I think they will do the job. Coming next, the raiders...

Nice painting.
The scientist looks a bit like one of Crooked Dice's scientists.

Wonderful work!  8)

Nice painting.
The scientist looks a bit like one of Crooked Dice's scientists.

I feel there are several 'tributes' to earlier miniatures in there. The scientist is one, but the Gestapo type figure is another one; I have a similar mini in my own collection (can't recall the origin though; it's been a while). Same with several of the officers. The female soldier reminds me of Bob Murch's  She Wolves, although she's still somewhat generic.

Most of these are in fact so generic that similarities are bound to occur. After all they're all wearing well known uniforms and are based on archetype/stereotype German baddies. But some are a bit familiar all the same...

+++EDIT+++ I found a picture of my own Gestapo mini. It's not a perfect match, but it's obvious they're based on the same source material for sure...

Thank you all for the kind words.
I always suspected myself that the Gestapo agent was based on the melting face bloke from Raiders of the Lost Ark:  probably he served as an inspiration for more than one sculptor?

Oh absolutely!

Him and Herr Flick from 'Allo 'Allo. Although he might have been based on the Indy bad guy himself!

Great painting

Clearly there is an Allo, Allo vibe running through anything like this.  Balding fat commander?  Bespectacled Gestapo officer? Blond haired Nazi woman?  Just needs fat cafe owner, voluptuous waitress and old crone for the resistance.
